Look for online stores in New Orleans, LA. That's where they make the prettiest ones. You will get a great mask and help to support the still growing economy there, so you can feel good about it.

Masquerade Makeup//Mask!?

The thing is- the theme is a Masquerade Ball. I'm going to go to a couple stores tomorrow to look at masks- but I also don't know what to do with my makeup. I really LOVE how in like Phantom of the Opera and in Ever After, a lot of them have ';masks'; underneath the masks- done in makeup. I like the idea of body jewels and such, but I don't want it to look tacky- I just want it to be masquerade-y. We only do one formal a year, so a couple friends and I decided hey! Why not go all out? haha.

Does anyone have any ideas? Pictures would be helpful- either of a mask, or a makeup idea, or both! Haha

http://www.houseofmasquerades.com/ is a great place to find the classy kind of mask your looking for. in terms of make-up, think light and fantasy, so silvers and golds. use mac because they have great pigments. keep lips glossy seeing as they may be the only thing seen under your mask. in terms of body jewels? get small clear jewels and line your eyes with them if you have that kind of steady hand, or put on by each corner of your eyes (four in total). also, fake eyelashes are a must!

I think you should get a bit if lace and some white eyeshadow or face paint and hold the lace overt your face and put the paint over the top take the lace off and you should have a look like lace over your face

well it depends...if the mask is black then your gonna want a black costume to go with it. lets just say it is black you could find a really nice black dress that you like and buy some black feathers from a Halloween store and attach them with pins or glue or maybe some double sided tape. but don't put the feathers on the whole dress just on the shoulders and maybe like three to make a tail. or u don't half to have the feathers on the dress just get a pretty dress with sparkles on it or no sparkles.

I'd do colors that reflect you--like for example pink with a pink tie or purple. That way people may be able to guess who you are.

Nah, Actually that's a very cool idea.

I think you should allow them to bring their own mask, only bc they might want it to match their outfits.

That or maybe a few days before the party, you and your close girlfriends can make masks together and wear them there.

I don't think the guys would mind, they might find it different. And especially if they're going with a date, because then they'll look cute together.

If you are a man, you are to complement your date. wear a mask similar in color to hers and your suit/tux/costume.

If you are a lady, now is your chance to find a beautiful renesance dress, or any type from the surrounding era's. you want to look classy (unless it is not a ball but more of a party) and your mask could say something about you. it may be as flashy or as conservative as you like. Why not kill two bird with one stone: get some simple masquerade masks and decorate them in your wedding colors. Well having a Masquerade or a Halloween wedding is actually two different things. If it's a masquerade, supply the masks, if it's a Halloween, people should come in costume. Decide which you'd rather have and stick with that.

This will be a Masquerade wedding since it will be on Halloween. We will provide masks for those who need them, but if you have your own, that will be great. Tell me on your RSVP card(or when you call, if your doing it that way) if you will or will not need a mask!

Make no mention of Halloween. They already know it's Halloween, but it sounds much more elegant to say that your wedding is a masquerade. They don't need to know why it's a masquerade. Just inform them that guests are welcome to bring their own masks for the celebration, but that masks will also be available for those guests unable to bring their own. It can be put at the bottom of the invitation or as an insert.

If you want explain, include a little mask/masquerade history on the note, unless you're already planning on doing that during your wedding reception.

Have fun! It sounds elegant and lovely, unlike some other weddings planned for Halloween that I've seen on Answers.
If you are requring that guests dress up (which by the way never works like you think it will and usually causes problems) you need to provide the cosutmes and not expect them to buy on their own. There's enough expense involved with attending. In this case, masks.

I would not put a cosutme as a dress code on the invitaiton because then it does become sort of a requirement and some may decilne for that reason. Instead, you can easily spread through word of mouth that cosutmes are perfectly welcome and you are having that theme.
have basic ones at hand and ready and if the guests want to get all funky on your *** then they can do that.

My school decided on a Masquerade themed formal (which I personally don't like).

I mean, what are they thinking, deciding on presenting a 15th century themed party to a bunch of teenagers?

I guess it is unique but the people at my school won't like it either.

This summer I went to Venice and we picked up a couple masquerade masks. I would really like to incorporate one into my halloween coustume, but i cant think of any costumes that involve a masquerade mask. I looked it up online I was hoping maybe there was a movie that had a famous masquerade mask scene, but i couldnt find any. Oh and mind you I dont want anything thats too ridiculous like a ballroom outfit or anything. Something I can goof around and have fun in. Here is a picture of the masks. Okay, I am going to a school masquerade ball. Don't be fooled by the ';ball';, it's not super-formal or anything. I just need a cute dress and a mask. For the dress, I want something cut short because my legs are my best feature, but not anything above arm length because it is a school dance. I'm going to the Midnight Masquerade Even at Chapters in Gloucester and I have this masquerad mask but i'm not sure if it's too much or if i should wear it.

The mask is white around, gold in the middle with red and blue contours. Also, there's a few feathers that stick out at the top with a small gem at the beginning.

Is this too much or is it okay?

Okay go with the gold one because you already have purple shoes so now if you have the gold mask your dress is part gold from the top and then the other half is purple from the bottom and then the shoes are purple:D Mask gold top half of dress gold and bottom half of dress purple with purple shoes, sounds good to me!

That is so cool. I've always wanted to go to a masquerade ball...I think it would be so mysteriously thrilling, yet romantic all at the same time. I wonder what the ball is for...birthday, holiday...? lol But it sounds like so much fun. What you should do is rent a really pretty sort of Victorian, or Elizabethan (sp) dress from a costume store, and if you want then also rent a mask. Even though you're going to a ball it doesn't mean that you especially have to have a mask, but it would be cool to have one, so I recommend that you do....but be sure to dress very old fashion/beautiful and have a blast. And if a cute guy asks you to dance then don't refuse!!! lol After all...even though you won't know many people there that doesn't mean that you won't meet new awesome people!
Oooh, I went to one of those quite recently actually. Its really great fun! To be stylish, you really don't have to go by certain rules, or follow what some dumb website tells you to wear. Just go fishing around, walk down some nice shopping districts in your area and look at dresses. Usually you will find a sort of pattern in the style of dress that you like. Make sure you just try things on! And your mask doesn't even have to match your dress. You could go for a theme like an extravagant dress with a simple mask, or vice versa. A great place to get masks is Malabar, although they might be a bit pricey. :)

The particular mask you're looking for is a lasercut metal mask imported from Italy. It and many of the masks from that episode are sold in shops in New Orleans and also various online stores.

That model is called ';Gattina';, retails for about $140, and comes in a variety of colors. Judging by the photograph, the one used in the episode is the Gold/White version (or Oro/Bianco).

If you do a Google image search for ';gattina mask';, it's one of the first things to pop up.

They're not exactly like Jenny's but they're not the cheap plastic or leather ones. They're all the metalic ones and some of them have the nice curvy shapes Jenny's mask had.

It's hard to find a good store that sells masks with a wow quality for cheap. My sister got me a fantastic one from a street fair in italy, but I doubt you will have Access to something like that. My honors brit lit class went to a Renaissance fair and there was a booth that sold beautiful masks ranging between 30-60 bucks. Perhaps you know of a fair like that going on in your local area?

a costume or party store will have one. but it is really fun making one. to make one first buy a really simple mask in plastic. they should have the eyes cut out already. so it is just a piece of plastic with eyeholes and string attached. if u want to hold it just take a stick and tape it to one side. next take glue and water and mix them together. than use papertowel and lay strips of it on your pastic mask. use plasticine to create details, then cover it in paper towel again, then paint it . i think it is much easier to buy one. have fun! =]I need a masquerade mask! Happy Holidays Sarah! Go to your local ';Michaels, Beverlys, Party-Time etc...Purchase a plain (any color) mask. Kind of like Zorro or the Lone Ranger wore. Get some glue ie; Aileene's Quick-Dry/Tacky Glue, or just plain Elmer's will do. Buy a Bag of ';feathers';, some ';fine'; glitter and a small pkg of rhinestones/crystals. Play around with the placement of your items...then go 4 it! OXXO Moonshine F.Y.I. You might want to purchase some ';metallic'; elastic cord/string or thin satan ribbon to replace the cheap elastic cord that comes with the mask. P.S. You could also ';gate'; the elastic cord and hot-glue a chopstick/wooden dowel etc...to the side and hold it like they do at ';mardi-gras'; or those grand ';cotillions';! LOL!

The problem with a masquerade party and buying masks from common stores is that many people ebed up with the same mask. And given it is your prom you definately dont want the same thing as another person.

The best thing to do would be look at ideas online and then make your own. You can make them with paper mache or plaster, howerever the latter is quite messy. Then you can decorate however you want and to match your outfit, and you definately would have the most unique mask of the night.

Well I have all those colors and in various material types as well. Me and my partner can in fact create mask designs.

We usually do fairy type designs but also favor villain and goddess type stuff too, also have been known to do the occasional barbarian style shaman masks too. Feathers leaves leather silk, I already have the tools and materials just need the cause to do such a thing. WE should get in contact with each and and I am sure some design and creation can happen.
buy some feathers, fake gems, that metallic, colored glue, a mask, and a thin, circular piece of wood. all of this is available at craft stores. once you have everything, just put it all on and see how it looks! i suggest not gluing anything down until your absolutely sure that that's where you want it to be on your mask. oh and make sure to use hot clue; it works the best. :)

if you can't find something at the craft store, ask someone for help. employees at craft stores LOVE to help their customers. you could actually ask them to help you design it.

to get started using your imagination to make your mask, i would suggest looking at pictures of masks online before you go shopping for your materials. it really helps.

and how do i know all this? you may ask. i had to make a masquerade mask in 9th grade for a project, and i did what i typed up there, and i made a pretty cool mask. :)

To make one i would just find the outline or picture of one on the internet... then cut it out on thick poster paper...then glue sequins and glitter all over it, and lastly just punch holes on both sides and put some sort of elastic string through the holes.

Match the color with your dress or out fit. Navy blue is SOOO pretty! Go to a fabric store and maybe buy a cutout or a base for a mask. Buy matching silk or satin ar anything that feels silky in a solid color no patterns! If you happen to live near a craft store in your area, I would buy the following:

**A mask...most of them are plastic, but it beats making a real one out of paper mache :P

**Hot glue (you don't have to wait as long for everything to dry), although it does require you buying the apparatus and the hot glue sticks

**A bird (one of those ready-made ones), preferably with a clip

**A couple of tiny flowers in complimentary colors

**Feathers in complimentary colors

**A packet of plastic gemstones

**Ribbons

**Glitter glue, just to etch lines on the mask

I would pretty much center everything around the bird. Hopefully it's not too big and you just clip it to the end of the mask. Then simply glue away! But of course you should be careful to balance both sides of the mask or it'll be too heavy for your face :P

the dollarama (a store with nothing over a dollar) in usually around july-august or so when they start getting halloween stuff in they sell masquarade masks. Theyre really cheap and you can give them to your guests as opposed to renting them where you have to give it back.

glasses but for such occasions I wear contact lenses. You can find masks for cheap at Value Village at this time of year and at some craft stores. If you want a venetian mask, then you could order one online. These masks are very beautiful and highly decorative. I have two and both are very beautiful!

It seems to be that the prices range anywhere from $3.00 to $20.00. The last site www.partypro.com is a site you can buy in bulk and they even have an item that has an assortment of masks. The best thing to do instead of providing all of the masks for the guests is to suggest that they must wear a masquerade mask to the party as part of the attire. Of course it is always a good idea to have a few handy for those who forgot theirs at home.

A few ideas...Play some New Orleans Jazz or Creole Music. Don't forget the Gumbo. Typical colors for a New Orleans mardi gras/masquerade party are green, gold and purple.

If I were you I would choose a dress in either nude, ivory or white- as it is traditional to wear one of the colours from your mask. I would probably go for one with lots of chiffon and embellishments- but switch it up a bit by wearing a shorter dress.

maybe you could do the typcial ';drama'; face expression, except mix the two in half (as in, one side of the face is sad, the other half of the face is happy)... and if you're going to paint on top of it, the sad side of the face has several dark colours, and a tear on the eye -- for the happy side, brighter paints and a heart painted near the eye

its easier to use a ready made paper-mache face mask they cost pennies in an art shop - and add to it - staple bits on and put the mache over it - take a look at these - I love the one with the nose.
